The Christmas tree is undoubtedly the star of the home during the holiday season. At The Masie, we understand that not every house needs the same type of tree, which is why we've selected Christmas trees with a contemporary approach, moving away from the usual bushy and ornate options. You can find everything from very natural-looking artificial fir trees to wooden structures or stylish designs with integrated LED lights, designed to fit in spacious living rooms, small apartments, or even home offices.
The Christmas tree is much more than a seasonal decoration: it's the focal point for lights, gifts, and family moments during the holidays. However, finding a model that fits the aesthetic of a modern living room without disrupting the harmony of the space can sometimes be a challenge. At The Masie, we focus on designer Christmas trees that strike a balance between traditional festive spirit and a clean, minimalist aesthetic.
Not all homes have the same amount of space or natural light, and this significantly influences the choice of Christmas decorations. For those seeking the warmth of a traditional fir tree but without the hassle of falling needles, high-density synthetic options offer a dense volume and a very realistic green hue. If your living room has a more Scandinavian or functional style, narrow-profile trees or wooden slat structures allow you to create a very cozy festive corner without taking up floor space or overwhelming the room.
Before unfurling the branches or arranging the decorations, carefully consider the tree's placement and how it will look from different angles in the living room. A common mistake is placing the fir tree too close to a corner or a direct heat source like a radiator. Leave a few centimeters of space around the tree to allow for some movement, and place a natural fiber basket, a neutral fabric stand, or a small round rug at its base. This detail conceals the tree's structure, adds visual texture, and creates a perfect surface for displaying gifts.
Artificial trees are notable for their practicality and long-term sustainability. They don't lose leaves, require no watering, and can be disassembled and stored in their box until the following year, maintaining the same shape and color. Furthermore, they avoid the environmental impact of replanting or disposing of trees after the holidays.
Ideally, measure the height of the ceiling and subtract about 30 or 40 centimeters. This safety margin ensures that the top or star doesn't touch the ceiling and leaves enough space if the tree is raised on a stand or decorative basket.
The trick is to open up the branches section by section, starting from the bottom and working from the inside out. Fan out the small shoots, alternating their directions (some upwards, some sideways, and some slightly forwards) to fill the gaps and achieve a natural-looking volume.
