GIORGIA RIGHETTI IS THE CREATIVE MIND AND THE SOUL BEHIND LES EINES, PRESENTED AS AN INTERIOR ATELIER. AMONG ORIGINAL DESIGNS AND ICONIC PIECES, CRAFTED BY LOCAL ARTISANS AND MADE WITH MATERIALS FROM THE AREA, GIORGIA HAS CREATED A SPACE WHERE DESIGN IS EXPERIENCED IN A WARM, HONEST, AND CLOSE MANNER.
How was Les Eines born?
In my apartment, right after finishing university, when I took on my first interior design projects and began dedicating myself to sourcing antiques. Les Eines was born in 2014.
Les Eines was born in 2014. How has the project evolved since then to become what it is today?
It has grown enormously since then. Over time, the direction of my brand has evolved towards custom furniture; at the beginning we worked only with antiques and unique pieces.
What motivated you to take the step from interior design studio to also opening a design shop?
It was the other way around. I first opened the furniture shop and, little by little, clients themselves—trusting my taste and vision—started asking me to design their homes, leading to what I do today. The premises had been abandoned for years.

“In the shop there is a mix of vintage pieces, contemporary design and in-house production.”
What was the renovation process like and what challenges did you encounter along the way?
Honestly, it was great fun. The renovation lasted three months, quite fast, and I was deeply involved. I came in to work with the builders, painted the bathroom and the entire floor of both levels of the Les Eines space. I remember that at night, when the workers left, I stayed behind painting the floor with a roller so it would dry while I slept. I’m super happy with the result. These days, when people ask me if it’s micro-cement, I can’t help but smile.
Do you remember the first space you designed, and what did you learn from it?
Yes! My first two projects happened almost at the same time, both in Girona. The first was a smokers’ association and the second a delicatessen.
How do you achieve harmony between such different styles?
Haha, I don’t know! But that’s exactly what I do—every day I look for harmony between different styles. I think my obsession with combining colours helps me a lot. A well-considered colour palette is everything.
How does the architecture of a space influence the selection or design of the furniture?
A great deal! And this is something many people don’t understand. You must always respect the architectural language of the space; a piece doesn’t just need to be beautiful, it must work with the architecture that receives it.
“I always consider it essential to include a designer piece and/or an antique in my projects.”
Which trends excite you the most right now in the world of furniture and interior design?
I’m excited about the return of dark colours like burgundy, dark chocolate, and definitely extra-gloss lacquered finishes.
3 tips for designing a space that inspires wellbeing, calm and style.
Right now, instinctively, I would use a single colour for absolutely everything. Full white, for example. But no off-whites: white, white. Everything completely white inside! I love it. If there were no budget or time constraints.
What project would you love to do?
A nightclub and a hotel.
Why do you choose The Masie?
I find it amazing how much their collection has improved: the fabrics, the lacquers, the sofas, the dark and black woods… all things I love!
Favourite piece from The Masie
Right now, the grey smoked-glass table I use in my studio to meet clients feels like the best. And the amber version is also gorgeous!
